I put this in a blog, but wanted to post my question here as well. I am having my wedding on Halloween this year, conservative unfortunately due to my fiance, and I have 80 adults coming to a Sunday brunch reception. I have no idea what to do for favors. I don't want to be to kiddie, but I can't be overly gory either. PLEASE send ideas as I am at a loss!!
Pick a theme, ghosts, witches, vampires and then play out on the individual theme.
Example, witches: Each candy cup is a cauldron, the center pieces are cauldron with dry ice in them, and the "flames" on the bottom are flowers...a miniture broom stick on each place to serve as the name card...
I will check with my wife, she has a field day doing favors and centerpieces for our parties...more to follow after she gets back
Very cool cake ideas!! LOVE it! I thought about doing Mardi Gras masks but I'm not sure if that would be to formal for a brunch reception. Plus, we will be going out for cocktails after because this is Vegas and some family will want to party but most will want to retire early I think. I was thinking also little black organza bags with candy.
I like the theme idea though!
Please keep the ideas coming!
...A Halloween Wedding sounds so exciting! A lot depends on just how formal you and your groom want the reception to be.
1. You could do a simple Autumn theme, decoration with Fall leaves and pumpkins.
2. A Harvest Farm theme could also work, but it would be very casual.
3. You could opt for a Masquerade Ball, or Costume party that could be more formal, but all of your guests may not wish to participate.
4. Another idea would be to have a simple reception at the church, synagogue or wherever the wedding is held followed a big Halloween party for your friends at your home that night. I would probably be happiest with the last option.
...Once you tell us what direction you want to go for your reception, I'm sure that we will think of appropriate favours.
You guys are AWESOME!! I may have to go to SoCal and take you up on that coffin offer! Send me a message on that!!
As for the ideas, please keep them coming! I'm getting some good stuff here! I have to hope now that the IRS doesn't delay my tax return to long so we can get started. The wedding will be at Mandalay Bay Casino because they are doing a victorian/gothic Halloween theme and should work nicely. The reception is most likely a Sunday brunch at our favorite Thai place. Then, we're planning a Halloween "after party" at a local brew house where we plan to ask those who join us to wear costumes. Most of our family is coming from out of town and having costumes with them would be too much to ask. At first we though to do masquerade masks but I think that might be a bit formal for what we're doing. My future hubby and I are going to have masks for the after party, but that's when we're gonna let loose and have a good time on the town.
My dress isn't a proper Halloween dress, the future husband says he has to have a little bit of normal if he's only gonna do this once. (Bummer) It's a really nice ivory silk beach-y dress, I of course found it at Goodwill, never worn, for $100. A dress place in town went out of business(and donated all their stock) so I got a GREAT deal.
I think what I may do is go with the pumpkin centerpieces with a bit of spiders and witches mixed in. I'm doing ivory and dark blue with orange as an accent color. But I know the black of the spiders and witches will work well. I may use some orange and white lilies and some dyed blue orchids and white roses. Should be really nice.
For the favors, I think I might do some candy with groucho glasses or misc. fun costume type things that people can have fun with. Does that sound decent? Anything else I should consider?
